The same seed number will produce wildly different maps depending on the Map Type:

When you start a new continuous game in Anno 1404, the game procedurally generates the map based on a specific mathematical formula. That formula is governed by a hidden number called a seed. By changing this seed number, you change the arrangement of islands, the placement of rivers, the distribution of fertility (herbs, spices, wine, etc.), and the location of neutral traders like Lord Northburgh or Al Zahir.

Think of the seed as a key. Seed "12345" will always produce the exact same world. If you find a seed you love, you can write it down and play it again years later, and it will be identical. Over the years, the Anno community has exhaustively

Map seeds in Anno 1404 are essentially codes that the game's algorithm uses to create a map. By entering a specific seed before creating a new game, players can ensure that their game starts with a particular layout, resources distribution, and sometimes even specific challenges or advantages. This feature significantly expands the game's replay value, as players can explore different strategic approaches based on the generated map.

| Seed | Map Type | Difficulty | Why it's good | |------|----------|------------|----------------| | 7 | Archipelago | Hard | Small start but all oriental fertilities on nearby islands. | | 42 | Atoll | Hard | Very challenging, but the few large islands have multiple rare fertilities. | | 666 | Archipelago | Hard | Extremely cramped start – for veterans only. Rewards aggressive expansion. | | 9000 | Archipelago | Hard | Unusual ore distribution; iron and quartz on the same small island. | ⚠️ Warning : Seeds do not transfer between map types

Difficulty: Easy | Best For: Multiplayer Co-op

These two seeds are almost identical. They provide perfectly symmetrical start locations for two human players. If you are playing a co-op game (sharing an empire) or a competitive game with a friend, these prevent one player from having a geographic advantage.
