This paper analyzes the key drivers behind the rise of popular video content in Indonesia—demographics, smartphone penetration, and changing consumption habits—and examines major genres (vlogs, challenges, web series, live streaming, and short-form content). It also discusses cultural implications, including the negotiation of local vs. global identities, the rise of micro-celebrities, and regulatory responses. Finally, it projects future trends such as interactive video, AI-generated content, and the convergence of e-commerce with entertainment (shoppertainment).
