The story begins with a jarring difference. Class D is failing harder than canon dictates. The animosity between Sudou and the Horikita faction is toxic, eating away at their already meager Class Points.
In this version, Ayanokoji meets Suzune Horikita under different circumstances. She is drowning in her own arrogance, believing she can force the class to obey her. Ayanokoji watches her fail, but instead of saving her from the shadows, he confronts her.
"You are playing a solo in a symphony, Horikita," Ayanokoji says, his voice devoid of warmth. "And you are tone deaf." COTE- Red Sonata -v0.15.2- -steinercode-
He offers her a contract. He will ensure her rise to Class A, but she must surrender her autonomy to him. It is a deal with the devil. Desperate and cornered, she accepts. This marks the birth of the "Red" dynamic—Ayanokoji as the ruthless strategist, and Horikita as the unwilling executioner of his plans.
If you are worried about spoilers for the light novels, don't be. While the school rules and location are the same, Ayanokōji, Horikita, and Kushida do not appear as main characters. They exist in the background as "untouchable legends." The story begins with a jarring difference
Instead, you play as an original first-year student placed in Class 1-D (a different D-Class than the canon one). Your goal? Raise your class to A without getting expelled.
COTE: Red Sonata is an unofficial fan-parody/homage to the popular anime/manga series Classroom of the Elite (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e). However, rather than a simple retelling, Steinercode crafts a darker, more aggressive "what if" scenario. Weaknesses:
The story diverges early: The protagonist (named by the player, but functionally a version of Kiyotaka Ayanokouji) is not hiding his abilities. Instead, he is thrust into a violent, politically charged game within the cutthroat Advanced Nurturing High School. The "Red Sonata" subtitle refers to a bloody, musical-themed competition arc created for this game, where classes compete not just with points, but with strategic sabotage, blackmail, and physical confrontation. The tone is significantly more explicit and psychologically raw than the source material.
