Curviloft Plugin Sketchup «UHD — FHD»

Skinning is the black belt level of Curviloft. It works with a "bed" of intersecting curves. Think of it as a weaving machine: you have vertical curves (longitudinal) and horizontal curves (transversal). Skinning creates a surface that follows the intersection of both sets.

Even pros get error messages. Here is the decoder ring for Curviloft.

Error: "The input curves are not in the correct order"

Error: "Cannot create skin (Self-intersecting mesh)"

Result: "The surface is inside out (Blue faces)" curviloft plugin sketchup

Result: "It looks faceted, not smooth"

Organic surfaces are polygon-heavy. If you are designing a stadium roof, your computer may slow to a crawl.

Similar to SketchUp’s native Follow Me, but far more robust. You provide a path curve and one or more profile curves. Curviloft extrudes the profile(s) along the path while allowing rotation, scaling, and twisting.

While Sandbox tools are good for simple grids, Curviloft excels at creating "blended" terrain. Need to smooth the transition between a flat lawn and a steep hillside? You draw the contour lines, and Curviloft creates the precise slope.

Curviloft is a powerhouse SketchUp extension by Fredo6 designed specifically for creating complex organic shapes and skins that standard tools like "Follow Me" can't handle. It is widely considered essential for advanced 3D modeling and architectural visualization. Key Features The plugin operates through three primary tools:

Loft by Spline: Connects separate, non-parallel contours (like a circle to a square) with smooth transition surfaces. Skinning is the black belt level of Curviloft

Loft along Path: Joins contours by following a specific guide rail or path curve.

Skinning: Creates a surface or "skin" bounded by 3 or 4 contiguous edges/contours. Installation & Pricing

To use Curviloft, you must first install the LibFredo6 shared library.
