Every time your L3156 cleans its printhead or powers on, a small amount of ink is flushed into a built-in sponge pad inside the printer. Epson programs the printer to stop working after a certain amount of ink is flushed (usually 8,000–15,000 pages). This prevents ink from leaking out of the printer.
