The L6190 firmware has been updated several times by Epson to block reset tools. If your printer was manufactured after 2021, you cannot use the old 2018 reset programs.

| Firmware Version | Compatible Adjustment Program | |----------------|-------------------------------| | Up to v1.0.5 | Adjustment Program v1.0.0 | | v1.0.6 to v1.2.0 | Adjustment Program v1.2.3 | | v1.2.1+ | Adjustment Program v1.3.0 or "Patched" version |

Check your firmware: On the L6190, go to Settings > Firmware Version. If it is above v1.2.0, you may need to downgrade the firmware first (risky) or use a hardware resetter.

  • Connect via USB
Ensure the printer is detected. In the program, select “USB” as the port.

  • Select Your Model
From the dropdown, choose “L6190” or “L6190 series”.

  • Go to Waste Ink Pad Counter
Click on “Particular adjustment mode”“Waste ink pad counter”.

  • Enter Reset Key
If prompted, enter a 20-digit or 28-digit key. (Some versions require online activation.)

  • Check “Main pad counter” and “Box counter”
Tick both checkboxes, then click “Initialization”.

  • Confirm Reset
Click “OK” on the confirmation dialog. Wait for the “Success” message.

  • Turn Printer Off/On
Exit the program. Power cycle the printer. The error should be cleared.

  • Resetting the counter solves the software error, but it does not fix the physical reality. If the counter reached 100%, it means the actual sponge pads inside the printer are likely full of ink.

    What should you do?

The Epson L6190 is a highly regarded all-in-one ink tank printer, celebrated in small offices and homes for its low-cost, high-volume printing capabilities. Unlike cartridge-based printers, its refillable ink tanks promise efficiency and reduced waste. However, like all precision machines, the L6190 is governed by a complex internal counter system designed to track maintenance, ink usage, and component life. When these counters reach a predetermined limit, the printer halts operation with an error message, often "Service Required" or a specific code like "0xF1." To bypass this lockout, many users turn to a controversial piece of software known as the Epson L6190 Resetter Adjustment Program. While this tool can restore functionality, its use is a double-edged sword, balancing economic necessity against technical risk and warranty violation.

A: The official Epson Adjustment Program is leaked software, so it is often shared for free. However, reliable downloads are rare. WIC Reset costs about $10. Free versions are usually scams or malware.

If used incorrectly, the Adjustment Program can permanently brick your printer. The most common mistakes include:
