Don't just cut randomly. Use the Split tool (Ctrl + B) to remove dead air. The I and O keys let you mark in-and-out points on the source monitor before inserting to the timeline.
Go to the Video Effects panel > Utility > Chroma Key. Drag it onto your clip. Use the Edge Thickness and Edge Feather sliders to remove the green halo around your subject. For poor lighting, check Edge Shrink to tighten the mask. filmora zmco
