Step 1: Download and Install OpenIV
Go to the official OpenIV website. Install it and point it to your GTA IV installation directory (e.g., C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV).
Step 2: Enable Edit Mode In OpenIV, click "Tools" and then "ASI Manager." Install the "OpenIV.ASI" and "ASI Loader." This unlocks the game files for editing/extraction.
Step 3: Navigate to the Audio Files
Using OpenIV’s file browser, navigate to the following path:
Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\audio\sfx
Here you will find files with the .rpf extension. The most important for cutscenes are:
Step 4: Open the RPF Archive
Double-click speech.rpf. Inside, you will see folders named by language (e.g., american, french, german, russian). Open your language folder.
Step 5: Locate Cutscene Dialogue
Inside the language folder, you will see .ivaud files. These are Rockstar’s proprietary audio containers. Cutscene audio is usually found in files named after missions (e.g., RESCUE_1.ivaud).
Step 6: Export the Audio
Right-click on any .ivaud file and choose "Export." Save it as a .ivaud or .wav (if OpenIV supports direct conversion).
Step 7: Convert to MP3/OGG
Since .ivaud is not playable in standard media players, use Audacity with the .ivf plugin or a dedicated ivaud_converter.exe tool (available on GTAForums). Once imported into Audacity, you can export it as MP3.

The night air in Liberty City didn’t just smell like trash and exhaust; it felt heavy, like a secret no one wanted to tell. For Elias, a digital archivist with an obsession for "lost" media, the city existed only in code—specifically, the fragmented architecture of Grand Theft Auto IV
For months, Elias had been hunting for the "unfiltered" cutscene audio. He wasn't looking for the compressed files found in every retail copy; he was chasing the legendary pre-processing masters
—the raw studio recordings where the actors’ voices didn't have the metallic tang of 2008 compression.
He found the link on a dead forum, buried under threads about Bigfoot myths and jetpack hoaxes. The file name was a string of gibberish: V_AMB_RAW_92.zip
"Finally," he whispered, the glow of his monitor reflecting in his glasses. The download bar crawled. 12%... 45%... 98%.
When he opened the folder, there were no music files or ambient noise. Just one track labeled Dialogue_Ending_A_ALT . He clicked play.
It wasn't Niko Bellic’s voice that came through his headphones. It was the sound of a studio door swinging shut. Then, heavy breathing. "Is the red light off?"
a voice asked—distinctly Michael Hollick, the voice of Niko. "Yeah, we're clear,"
a technician replied, though his voice sounded miles away, hollow.
What followed wasn't a scripted scene. It was a five-minute recording of a man breaking down. The actor wasn't reciting lines about the "American Dream" or "bowling with Roman." He was talking about the weight of the character, the darkness of the scripts, and a specific scene that Rockstar had supposedly cut for being "too real." When searching for "GTA 4 audio download," you
As Elias listened, his room grew colder. The audio quality was terrifyingly crisp, as if Niko himself was sitting in the corner of the room, whispering his sins. Then, the recording shifted. The background noise of the studio vanished, replaced by the unmistakable sound of Liberty City rain. "I know you're listening, Elias," the voice said.
Elias froze. His mouse wouldn't move. The audio file showed 0:00 remaining, but the voice continued, echoing through his speakers even after he pulled the plug on his PC.
He hasn't played the game since. But sometimes, when he walks past a dark alleyway in his own city, he hears the faint, high-fidelity sound of a phone ringing—the exact ringtone from a game he thought he’d deleted. aspect or lean further into the psychological horror of the "sentient" file?
