Believe it or not, the fastest way to complete Career Mode is to never pick up items. Why? Because the animation for collecting an item box slows you down by 0.3 seconds. Over 28 item boxes in a race, that’s 8.4 seconds lost.
The Hack: Drive around item boxes. Instead, focus on drift-chaining. Without items, the AI’s targeting system has no "aggro" trigger—enemies will never fire missiles or drop oil at you because the game codes passive players as low-threat. You become invisible to the AI’s offensive logic.
