Then Sofian takes out his phone. Plays “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. He lifts Philippe’s lifeless arms and starts dancing with them. Philippe is laughing so hard he can’t breathe.

Interior. Living room – Night.

Sofian forces Philippe to listen to French rap. Philippe forces Sofian to watch an opera – The Magic Flute.

SOFIAN
Mais il a un casque sur la tête, ce type. Pourquoi il crie ? (But he’s wearing a helmet, that guy. Why’s he screaming?)

PHILIPPE
C’est de la passion. Comme ton Booba quand il parle de sa Rolex. (It’s passion. Like your Booba talking about his Rolex.)

They both laugh. Sofian, impulsively, puts Philippe’s hand on a paintbrush. He guides it across a canvas. Philippe cries – not from sadness, but from creation.

DRISS De rien. T'as pensé à mettre ça dans ton testament ? "Si je suis légume, tirez une balle."

One of the most famous sequences involves a German opera about forests. Driss cannot contain his laughter. In the les intouchables script francais, the stage directions read:
