In a world where supernatural gifts called "Talents" dictate a person’s worth, a young woman named Miyo Saimori lived a life devoid of kindness. Born into a noble family, she was cursed with a seemingly useless Talent—a complete lack of spiritual power. After her mother’s death, Miyo was treated as an invisible servant by her cruel stepmother and stepsister, Kaya. Her only solace was her childhood friend, Koji, but even that joy was stripped away when her father arranged a marriage for her.
But this was no fairy-tale rescue. Her fiancé was Kiyoka Kudou, a mysterious army captain rumored to be so cold and ruthless that all his previous fiancées had fled his estate within three days.
My Happy Marriage Season 1 (2023), animated by Kinema Citrus, begins with Miyo arriving at the Kudou estate, expecting a new level of torment. Instead, she finds a quiet, lonely man who is stern but not cruel. Kiyoka, who possesses the immensely powerful "Gift of Flames," is actually tired of shallow suitors who only wanted his status. He sees past Miyo’s tattered clothes and trembling hands, recognizing the deep trauma and genuine heart she hides.
As days turn into weeks, a slow, delicate romance blooms. Miyo, learning to cook, clean, and simply exist without fear, begins to heal. Kiyoka, in turn, drops his icy façade, revealing a protective and gentle nature. Their peaceful life, however, is threatened by two forces: the jealous Kaya, who wishes to steal Kiyoka for herself, and a dangerous group of "Grotesqueries"—monsters born from negative emotions that only those with Talents can fight. The season beautifully weaves together two arcs:
By the season’s emotional climax, Miyo is no longer a damsel. She confronts her abusive family, stands by Kiyoka’s side against a supernatural threat, and finally understands that a "happy marriage" is not a given right, but a choice two broken people make to build a life together.

The story follows Miyo Saimori, a young woman from a neglected family background, who is arranged to marry Kiyoka Kudou, a cold and rumoredly cruel military commander. Contrary to expectations, their relationship gradually develops into a heartfelt bond, blending historical fantasy, emotional healing, and supernatural elements.
Critics have given the Hindi dub an 8.5/10 on average. Here is why:
"We finally have an anime that feels like a Jane Austen novel dubbed in pure Hindi. The emotional depth is not lost. When Miyo whispers 'Main aapse khush hoon' (I am happy with you), it hits harder than the subtitle 'I am grateful.'" – AnimeIndia Review
The adaptation team chose not to literally translate. Instead, they used Hindustani words that convey modesty (gharelu), respect (aap), and romance (dilchaspi) appropriately.
