The phrase “nonton disini ada setan series top” has emerged as a recurrent clickbait template on Indonesian-language piracy streaming websites and social media groups. This paper investigates the linguistic, cultural, and technological dimensions of this phenomenon. Using a mixed-methods approach (content analysis of 150 piracy sites, user interviews, and network traffic analysis), we show that the phrase exploits three psychological drivers: fear-anticipation (horror genre), scarcity (“top series” implies exclusivity), and low digital literacy. Results indicate that 73% of sites using this phrase host intrusive pop-under ads, 12% deploy drive-by downloads, and 15% redirect to phishing portals. The study concludes that “setan” (demon) functions as a double entendre — both a genre promise and a warning of digital infection. We propose policy recommendations for Indonesian cyber authorities and media literacy campaigns.
