First, let's address the elephant in the room: There is no official, fully functional, widely released emulator called "PCSX4."

The name "PCSX4" is a fan-made label. It follows the naming convention of the legendary PCSX2 (PS2 emulator) and PCSX-Reloaded (PS1 emulator). Naturally, the community assumed that the next logical step would be "PCSX3" for the PS3 and "PCSX4" for the PS4.

The narrative was seductive. A mysterious developer named DevLuke allegedly began work on a PS4 emulator in late 2019. The target: run commercial PS4 games on Windows x86_64 systems. The README promised the world:

"PCSX4 is a work-in-progress PlayStation 4 emulator for Windows and Linux. It can boot some homebrew and is slowly progressing toward commercial titles."

Within weeks, the repo garnered hundreds of stars. Forks appeared. YouTube videos with titles like “PCSX4 – Bloodborne at 60FPS?” (spoiler: no) racked up millions of views.
