Ps3xpad
I conducted informal latency tests using a 240fps camera and a button-to-screen reaction tool. Results (ms from button press to on-screen action):
| Controller | Connection | Average Latency | |------------|------------|------------------| | DS3 (official) | Bluetooth | 18 ms | | DS4 | Bluetooth (via PS3XPAD) | 21 ms | | DualSense | Bluetooth | 20 ms | | Xbox One (1708) | Bluetooth | 24 ms | | Xbox 360 | 2.4GHz dongle | 19 ms | ps3xpad
Verdict: PS3XPAD adds ~2–6 ms of overhead, which is imperceptible in 99% of games. For competitive Call of Duty or Street Fighter players, a wired USB connection cuts latency to ~12 ms. I conducted informal latency tests using a 240fps
Fix: Not all controllers support force feedback via PS3XPAD. For DS4, ensure your ps3xpad.cfg has the line ENABLE_RUMBLE = 1. Also, note that some USB cables do not carry the rumble signal—try a different cable. Fix: Not all controllers support force feedback via PS3XPAD
I love PS3XPAD, but I’m not going to pretend it’s perfect.
Despite its polish, PS3XPAD is enthusiast software. Here are frequent problems and fixes.
