Scanmatik - 2 Pro Driver
For genuine devices, this is rarely needed. For aftermarket or clone SM2 Pro units, this is mandatory.
If you are trying to use the Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI)—the Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the car—with a Windows laptop for OEM software (like Toyota Techstream or Ford FDRS), you need the J2534 driver.
A: Windows 7 did not aggressively update FTDI drivers. Windows 10/11 does. You must disable automatic driver updates via Group Policy (gpedit.msc) > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > "Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings."
Once installed, the device will appear under "Ports (COM & LPT)" as "USB Serial Port (COMx)." scanmatik 2 pro driver
The Scanmatik 2 PRO driver is a specialized J2534 and RP1210 interface driver that enables the adapter to function with a wide range of third-party diagnostic and ECU programming software. Unlike generic drivers, it is bundled directly within the Scanmatik diagnostic software suite, ensuring the adapter's firmware remains synchronized with the driver and application versions. Core Technical Specifications
The driver supports professional-grade automotive communication protocols through the Scanmatik 2 PRO hardware:
Standards Support: Extensive compatibility with SAE J2534-1/2 and RP1210 standards. For genuine devices, this is rarely needed
Data Buses: Supports 13x ISO-9141/ISO-14230 (K-LINE), 1x J1850VPW, 1x J1850PWM, 4x CAN, and 1x Single Wire CAN.
Programming Voltage: Capable of supplying 5-24V to OBD2 pins 6, 8, 11, 12, 13, and 14, as well as an auxiliary (AUX) output for bench programming.
Safety Features: Includes galvanic isolation for the USB port and protection against overvoltage or short circuits. Software Compatibility Report A: Windows 7 did not aggressively update FTDI drivers
The driver allows the Scanmatik 2 PRO to act as a high-performance Pass-Thru device for numerous OEM and aftermarket tools:
These require the standard FTDI VCP driver (version 2.8 or 2.12). You must set the Latency Timer to 2 ms, not 1 ms.
A driver is a piece of software that acts as a translator between your computer’s operating system (Windows) and the external hardware (the Scanmatik 2 Pro scanner). The Scanmatik 2 Pro connects to a PC via USB.
When you plug the device in, the computer recognizes that a new piece of hardware is attached but does not know how to "talk" to it. The driver provides the necessary instructions for the computer to recognize the scanner as a diagnostic interface, allowing data to flow from the car’s Engine Control Unit (ECU), through the scanner, and onto your screen.
A: Yes, but with the same signature enforcement issues as Windows 10. Use the Windows 10 driver package (versions 2.12.28). Do not use Windows 11's default driver.
