The best way to achieve a "free download" legally is through the Slate Digital All Access Pass trial. This gives you VMR 2.0 along with every other plugin they make (Murda Melodies, FG-Stress, etc.).
Warning: Avoid cracked versions. Not only are they illegal, but they are also the #1 reason why VMR 2.0 does not work better on Mac. Cracks often cause CPU spikes, kernel panics on Apple Silicon, and broken iLok drivers.
