After being bitten by a radioactive spider, Miles gains spider-like powers. He then witnesses the death of his universe’s Peter Parker (Spider-Man) at the hands of the Kingpin. This isn’t a villain-of-the-week story. The antagonist is The Echo—a collective consciousness formed from the discarded Spider-People, those erased from their own narratives, the “What-Ifs” that never got a happy ending. They are not evil; they are bitter. They’ve seen that in 99% of universes, Spider-Man loses everything. Uncle Ben always dies. Gwen always falls. The city always forgets.
The Echo’s goal: to convince Miles that his universe is a fluke. His father is alive. His uncle Aaron died a villain but found redemption. His friends know his secret. He is statistically impossible. The Echo offers him a twisted mercy: “Let us collapse your anomaly. Your suffering is over. You won’t have to watch everyone you love die. You’ll just… stop.”
