A common fear: Will I get banned?
The short answer is no. The Binding of Isaac: Repentance has no VAC or EAC anti-cheat. Edmund McMillen himself has acknowledged save editors as a tool for accessibility.
However, there is one major trap: Steam Achievements.
If you use an outdated editor (pre-UPD), you might unlock an item in-game that doesn't trigger the corresponding Steam achievement, leaving you stuck with a "broken" profile.
If you use a modern, updated editor, the save file will correctly sync with Steam. Most 2025 editors include a "Sync Steam Achievements" button that forces Steam to check your save file and grant any missing badges.
