Episode 1: "The Contract Marriage Begins"
Both characters are "escapists." They run from the pain of romantic rejection. Episode 1 suggests that retreating into a contract (a legal document) is safer than risking your heart. This psychological depth is rare in a romantic comedy pilot.

The episode introduces Mikuri Moriyama, a 25-year-old woman struggling with the realities of the modern workforce. Despite having a master's degree in clinical psychology, she is unable to find permanent employment and works as a contract employee at a trading company. When her contract ends, she finds herself unemployed and burdened by societal pressure to either find a career or get married.
Her father, worried about her future, arranges for her to work as a housekeeper for Hiramasa Tsuzaki, a 35-year-old single man who works as a system engineer. Hiramasa is a dedicated salaryman who values efficiency and cleanliness but lacks domestic skills. Mikuri: “If housework is a job, then being
The two develop a professional rapport. However, when Mikuri learns that her father is planning to move to the countryside, she faces the prospect of having nowhere to live and no job. In a bold, desperate move, she proposes a "contract marriage" to Hiramasa. She suggests that she will continue to be his housekeeper and "wife" in name only, providing him with a clean home and cooked meals in exchange for a salary and a place to live.
Surprisingly, the pragmatic Hiramasa accepts the proposal. The episode concludes with the two signing a contract and moving in together, officially beginning their life as a "fake couple."
When Mikuri’s father worries she’s “selling herself cheap” as a housekeeper, she replies: “I’m not a wife. I’m a professional homemaker. It’s a job.” That moment redefines the entire series—it’s about two awkward people finding respect and affection through clear, consensual boundaries.
