One of the most interesting intersections of Kerala entertainment and Bollywood cinema is the music industry. For decades, Malayali music directors borrowed (or "recreated") Hindi tunes. Today, the relationship is reversed.

Recently, several Bollywood chartbusters have been note-for-note copies of old Malayalam hits. Yet, conversely, Bollywood music rules the Kerala wedding circuit. Conversely, the Malayalam hit 2018: Everyone is a Hero proved a disaster film with no star and no songs could gross over ₹100 crore, thanks to word-of-mouth from Hindi markets.

One of the most significant connections between the two industries is the adaptation of scripts. For a long time, Bollywood looked toward Kerala for content-driven stories when it was starved of original scripts.
