One of the most critical features of the Portal is SCN Coding. When a new control unit (like an ECU or transmission controller) is installed in a truck, it is a "blank slate." The Xentry Portal connects to the Mercedes server, calculates the specific software required for that truck’s unique configuration (VIN), and "flashes" the new unit. Without a valid Portal connection, a new ECU cannot be successfully installed in a modern Mercedes truck.
