The term “register key” in ZKBioLock refers to a temporary encrypted handshake between the software and the hardware (like a ZKTeco K20, K40, or other biometric terminal). It is not a serial number you type in from an email.
Common causes include:
| Cause | Explanation |
|-------|-------------|
| Driver missing | Windows didn’t install the USB driver for the biometric device. |
| Wrong device type selected | You chose “TCP/IP” but the device is connected via USB. |
| Software version mismatch | ZKBioLock is older than the connected device’s firmware. |
| Corrupt installation | The software registry keys or config files are broken. |
| Admin rights missing | The software can’t write the temporary key to Windows. | Do not email the key in plain text
Follow these in order. No need to pay anyone for a “key.”

Never download a “ZKBioLock register key generator” or “crack.” These are malware traps. There is no valid third-party key. The software is designed to work without one when properly connected.
ZKTeco does not sell directly to end-users in most regions. You must contact a local authorized reseller. Provide them with: Step 3: Enter the Key
The reseller will generate a unique zkbiolock register key based on your Device Serial Number (DSN) or Software ID.
Unless you purchased a multi-user license (very expensive), the zkbiolock register key is for one installation only. Installing it on two PCs will either fail or the first PC will be remotely deactivated.
