Many IT administrators and small business owners ignore firmware updates unless the printer stops working. However, staying current offers significant advantages:
Step 1 – Find Printer IP
Step 2 – Log In
Step 3 – Upload Firmware
Step 4 – Wait
Step 5 – Verify
Transfer Firmware to USB Drive:
Insert USB Drive into Printer:
Access the Firmware Upgrade Option:
Follow On-Screen Instructions:
Wait for the Update to Complete:
Verify the Update:
| Issue | Possible fix |
|-------|----------------|
| Printer doesn’t see USB file | Format drive FAT32. Rename file to exactly FIRMWARE.HD (check Readme). |
| Upgrade stuck at 0% | Power cycle? No — never power off. Wait 15 mins. If still stuck, contact Xerox support. |
| Web interface fails | Use USB method instead. |
| Error code after reboot | Note the code and visit Xerox support. |
